The Sonoma County Fairgrounds is the largest Fairground in the North Bay region and is home to over three hundred events annually including the Sonoma County Fair. The Fairgrounds not only serve as the location for these events but is the site frequently used for wildfire, flood and harsh weather, human and animal evacuations and has done so frequently in the past seven years.
During the wildfires of the past seven years, Cal Fire has made the Sonoma County Fairgrounds its base camp. Each time over five thousand fire fighters and their support teams facilitated their operations from the Fairgrounds.
The Sonoma County Fairgrounds, situated off California Highways 12 and 101, is also host to law enforcement training, religious ceremonies, evacuation training, is a food distribution site and has been a community asset since 1936.
